Thanks for all your help with the recycling efforts at the half marathon on Sunday.
Our system gets better every year and we continue to see a greater percentage of the waste diverted from the landfill. Once again we got lots of positive comments and thanks from the runners for our recycling efforts. We couldn't do it without such dedicated volunteers.
- More than 500 pounds of compost went to Sunrise Farm in Hartford.
- At the start we collected twice as much recycling as trash
- At the finish we half filled a 15 yard dumpster with recycling
- 10 yard trash container was almost empty
- In the rolling bins we collected three times as much recycling as trash
